Interview: Mr. Gerard Klein Essink, Managing Director, Bridge2Food on the 4th Healthy Ageing 2015

Mr. Gerard KleinBridge2Food is preparing the 4th Healthy Ageing 2015 Conference, October 29-30, 2015 in Amsterdam, looking at the Nutrition Strategies and Benefits in Healthy Aging.

alimentatec (by AZTI) spoke to Gerard Klein Essink, Managing Director,  Bridge2Food (The Netherlands), about this conference.

 

The 4th Healthy Ageing 2015 programme, 29 & 30 October, Amsterdam, will be relevant to the following industries: Food, Medical Nutrition, Food Service and Dietary Supplements. Tracks have been designed to give industry specialists the opportunity to maximise the know-how and networking for senior managers with different needs.

Which are the main topics that are going to be addressed?
Healthy ageing: a life cycle approach and opportunity
Health is a major concern for parents and ageing consumers. What can I do to improve the health of my child at a later stage in life with good nutrition during the first period of life? Likewise, what can I do when I get older to prevent certain nutrition and health related diseases and improve general wellbeing? Key challenges and opportunities for the food industry to tap into the legislative frameworks. New options for SME and large manufacturers active in the food industry, medical nutrition and supplements to develop. At the 4th Healthy Ageing 2015 new ideas and opportunities will be created. Mr. Gerard Klein Essink set up Bridge2Food in 2002. He worked internationally in the food industry for over 20 years after graduating in food chemistry from Wageningen University. His experience lies in business-to-consumer markets as well as business-to-business industries. He fulfilled roles as Vice-President Sales and Business Development Manager with a FMCG company and as General Manager at an international food ingredient company, as well as a researcher at Wageningen University. At Bridge2Food he enjoys combining the entrepreneurial environment and independent position with developing people, and linking functions and business with each other. Gerard is a frequent speaker at international fora on proteins, healthy ageing and sport nutrition. Bridge2Food is an international platform company focusing on fast moving categories such as sports nutrition, healthy ageing, bars, proteins and food technology.
